Prettys’ Business Academy - The essential business network for commercial and legal insights

As a client of Prettys, you will have the opportunity to join our new and exclusive Business Academy.

Prettys' Business Academy will provide you and your colleagues with up-to-date legal news and information, coupled with practical advice and support targeted at specific areas of your business, facilitating a whole company approach to your legal responsibilities.

In 2024, members of the Prettys’ Business Academy will have the opportunity to network with their peers in other organisations, as well as enhance their knowledge and understanding of some current and important topics.

Senior personnel and business owners will have the opportunity to attend events covering:

  • Getting Paid - How to ensure your T&Cs/contracts are robustly drafted in respect to getting paid by customers and to mitigate the risk of non-payment, as well as how to go about recovering debts.
  • Data Protection - What you need to know for your business. A reminder of the basic principles, as well as tricky areas that you should consider, including practical tips and examples.
  • Directors' Duties - An overview of the roles and responsibilities from a company law perspective. A perfect guide for those aspiring to be directors, as well as a valuable refresher for existing directors.

For HR professionals

  • You’re Hired! - The key considerations when hiring and onboarding, from recruitment to monitoring performance and suitability during the initial few months of employment.
  • You’re Fired! - Managing dismissals effectively and consideration of the risks involved

We also have our first Business Academy webinar in September: Commercial Leases – The Basics.

Does your business suffer from bad debts? Our first event, being hosted by our Commercial and Dispute Resolution Partners, Daniel Billson and Bushra Elzubeir, will help businesses to minimise the scope for non-payment in commercial contracts by including effective clauses and outlining what you can do to recover unpaid debts.

They will highlight:

  • The sort of contractual clauses that ought to be considered in business-to-business contracts to ensure they are robust and clear.
  • The steps/procedures/considerations that should be taken into account when deciding whether or not to sue.
  • Negotiating a way to settlement.

This informal, face-to-face learning session is a great opportunity to ask questions
and share experiences/network with other like-minded professionals.
