We understand that leaving an abusive partner can be difficult, however, there are a number of legal protective measures that can be taken urgently to safeguard you and any children.

Personalised advice and support

We believe that nobody should suffer because of an abusive relationship, and we offer advice to help you find a way through. Your safety and wellbeing act as the guiding principle throughout your case, offering peace of mind that you have a legal partner you can trust and rely on in your corner at all times.

We often see clients who will call or visit us repeatedly over a number of weeks or months before ending their relationship. A carefully thought through exit plan is sensible to safeguard you and any children.

COST OF LEGAL PROCEEDINGS

If you are worried about the cost of legal proceedings, particularly if you are subject to financial control, we will take you through the various options available to you. As a firm, we can refer you to the option of Novitas litigation loan funding to help with legal fees.

NON-MOLESTATION ORDER

A non-molestation Order can protect adults and children from harassment, intimidation, pestering and threats of violence by preventing the perpetrator from making direct contact, or encouraging a third party to do so on their behalf.

OCCUPATION ORDER

An occupation Order secures the family home for one person and usually the children, excluding the other person from entering or living in the property. This ensures a safe space while the details of separation are being worked out.

If you would like any help or advice relating to an abusive relationship, please get in touch with our team. You can contact us confidentially on 01473 232121, complete our contact form, or send us an email at familylaw@prettys.co.uk.

Please note we do not offer legal aid but are always happy to talk over your case and fees.
