‘Unwelcome Attention’ is a campaign led by Prettys Solicitors, in partnership with Waddington Brown, to encourage organisations to take action to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace for good.
Combining legal, cultural and leadership support, Prettys Solicitors and Waddington Brown work with organisations to address, at their root cause, known or perceived harassment issues. Our holistic support avoids tick-box training, instead focusing on real workplace engagement, your brand reputation and ESG strategy.

What does the work involve and where do you start to tackle the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace?
Matthew Cole: “Every organisation is different so a one-size-fits-all all approach isn’t the answer. We have devised a process that will get to the root issues and focus on workplace engagement, brand reputation and a cultural shift, bespoke to meet the challenges of particular sectors and organisational structures. The first thing we do is invite senior managers, usually but not always, the HR lead to complete a questionnaire and from that we can establish areas of potential risk and then provide a roadmap to work through.

The Process
Then it’s a three-stage process
1. Situation review – determining your organisation’s current risk context, with the findings of this presented back under legal privilege.
2. Leadership action-planning – working with employment law, DEI and employee communication specialists to support your senior team in deciding the actions they need to take for their organisation, based on the review findings.
3. Reality – tailored to each organisation but could include:
· Line manager skills development
· Employee engagement and communication activities
· Positive intervention support for employees
· Policy and process redevelopment
