Prettys Solicitors LLP is pleased to announce that it has advised Peter Wilson and Hannah March on the successful sale of Landguard Engineering Limited, a specialist steel fabrication business based in Harwich, to Northern Industries Group, one of the fastest-growing steel engineering groups in the UK.

Established in 2013, Landguard Engineering Limited has built a reputation for delivering end-to-end engineering solutions, including in-house design with 3D modelling and CFD analysis, workshop fabrication, and the production of custom acoustic enclosures, explosion-controlled containers, and ventilation attenuation systems. This unique set of capabilities has positioned Landguard at the forefront of acoustic containerised solutions, data centre plant room systems, and bespoke fabrication for industrial and energy applications.

The transaction represents a strategic milestone for both parties. For Northern Industries Group, the acquisition significantly broadens its engineering and manufacturing footprint, enhancing its ability to provide integrated solutions across its existing portfolio of companies, including Steelway Family, CEL Sheet Metal, and JHT Engineering. For the sellers, the sale aligns with personal plans while ensuring Landguard’s continued growth under the Northern Industries Group’s management.

Prettys Solicitors Role

The corporate team at Prettys, led by Sarah Lewis (initially by Daniel Billson) and supported by Zoe Zhang, advised the sellers throughout the transaction.  Additional employment input was provided by Aimee Riley and Matthew Cole.  The team provided strategic, risk-based commercial advice to ensure a smooth and successful sale process.

Sarah Lewis, Partner at Prettys LLP, commented:
“It was a real pleasure acting for Peter Wilson and Hannah March in the sale of Landguard Engineering Limited to Northern Industries Group and to have played a pivotal role in achieving a successful outcome for them both. This reflects the firm’s commitment to delivering results for clients and acting as a trusted advisor. It was also a privilege to collaborate with Rob Dukelow-Smith and Ollie Geddes-Smith of Forward Corporate Finance, whose expertise and partnership were instrumental in the success of the deal.  We wish Peter and Hannah all the best for the future and have no doubt that Landguard will continue to thrive under the strong leadership of the remaining management team and Northern Industries Group.”

Forward Corporate Finance acted as the lead financial and corporate finance advisors to the sellers, identifying Northern Industries Group as the ideal strategic partner.  Rob Dukelow-Smith commented of the transaction:

“Nothing was ever too much trouble for Sarah and Zoe at Prettys. No deals are easy but this had some really interesting challenges and twists to the tale, all were handled in their stride.  You never choose a lawyer for their understanding of law, you choose them for their people skills and resilience.  Sarah and Zoe have those attributes in abundance.”

Peter Wilson and Hannah March added

“We were delighted with the input and support from Sarah and Zoe at Prettys. They were proactive and responsive as needed, were always available, and showed great patience, understanding and intuition throughout the process, and great determination in representing our position when unexpected challenges arose”
